Carried away by Brood Brothers

It happened again. Painted something and got sucked into paiting more of the same stuff. This time it was Genestealer Cult Brood Brothers. After finishing my Legacy Coven 2020 model I noticed I still had some Olley guardmen that I was not going to include to my IG force. And from the WD116 Genestealer list I learned that a Slaanesh worshipping brood brother band is just six models strong. So why not. Plus I wanted to experiment a little with the contrast paints I had bought but not used that much.

I wanted to honor this color scheme from WD116. The same issue also holds the genestealer cult army list.
The six brood brothers. Three Olleys, Two metal bodied IG troopers with plastics arms and a penitent.
White contrast paint base. Black Templar shoes/boots, Magos Purple jumpsuits, Nazdreg Yellow armor, Guilliman Flesh face + hands and Leadbelcher for metal parts. Some added shading with Agrax and that´s it.

Very fast and slaaneshian enough for me. Six models in less than 24h is a good pace for me. In my opinion contrasts worked really nice for this kind of paint job. I can imagine myself building a small cult army painted with contrasts.

Slaanesh workshippers cost 40 points/six model band. Brood brothers are affected by frenzy but are immune to other psychological effects.

Perhaps a beastmen band next then...

Legacy Coven 2020 entrant

As this years Lagacy Project we are building a genestealer coven over at Oldhammer Forum. Check out this thread and sign in if interested. You can find the threads about 2017 and 2019 project by clicking those two banners in the right hand side side bar.

My participant will be this simple brood brother. Touched by Slaanesh he was born with pupilless eyes, pale skin and purple hair. Fearing the inquisition his parents left him to die but the baby was found by a member of a genestealer cult.  Regarded sacred because of his coloring the baby was adopted into the coven and raised to be a warrior. Grown up now he fights side by side with his new family.

As you can see he´s a Bob Olley Guardsman with a beaky marine bolt gun. This
years spot colorfor project is green and I gave him green jump suit and body armor.

Belt and pouches are simple leather with some metal details. Shoulder pads and
boots are black with greenish grey highlights.

Inquisitors and else

After those space elves I´m back to paiting IG. Happy to show a couple of not so common character models, an another commissar cadet and a slightly converted sergeant.

Ready for a corona inspection?

RT7 mercenaries series Inquisitor Augustus model. He has a pretty maniacal impression on his face that suits a religious fanatic just fine.

Forces of the Imperium Ordo Malleus Inquisitor with Force sword. I used the blue and white details to set him apart from normal inquisitors as he is a daemon hunter after all.

Didn´t have any beaky marine backpakcs so I just used this one. And that´s my first ever attempt on painting a force weapon.

This is the 3rd model to the upcoming commissar training squad. Ran out of models so it´s off to ebay again.

RTO5 Imperial Army Sergeant Hikks with an added chain sword. RT IG sergeants come with chain swords so I had to give him one. He´ll get a squad to lead eventually.

Finding Nemo (or Xeno)

Sometimes all you need is a little push in the right direction. For me that push was the facebook discussion in Oldhammer Community after my previous posting. One of the gentlemen there mentioned that he has an eldar dreadnought to paint but was intimidated by the big empty space on the head piece. I had been putting off painting my dreadnought for quite a long time for that same reason. I just had to take the bull by the horns and get painting.

I´m quite pleased with the way this model turned out. When I showed the head piece to one of my friends he immediately named it Nemo.  I can undertand why. It was not intentional but I think it look pretty cool. Might carry that pattern over to the war walker I had there waiting to get paint on itself.

Need to do the base later. I´ll be adding some extra weight to it as the model is pretty front heavy.

Space Elves so far

LM requested a gruop shot of all my painted RT Eldar and today I´m fullfilling that request. These have never been any sort of main project for me but more like a take-a-break-from-something-else-and-paint-a-couple type of thing. The very first were painted late in 2018 and there are now 25 painted models all together.

I have a few space elf models still left, most notably a dreadnought and a war walker. And I´d like to get me a jet bike or two someday.

Two peas in a pod

After painting a space elf Ghost Warrior robot I came across a 2nd edition Blood Bowl elf blitzer that has been wainting to be painted for a couple of years. And I just had to paint him.

I wonder if Jes sculpted these on a same frame? The blitzer actually looks like he would fit in that ghost warrior armor. And there are those war dancers that have a stance that´s very close to this.

Once again did not enjoy painting those studs. That will propably keep me away from ever starting those Scarloc´s archers...

Space elves come in threes

To be exact this time it´s four models. But only two of them are space elves to be precice. Anyway I have added a trooper, a heavy wepon and it´s operator and a robot to my RT era eldar force. Too big to be called a kill team and too small for an army I think I need to take a group shot of everyone in the near future.

Trooper with las pistol and shuriken catapult, heavy plasma gun on a tripod, heavy weapon operator with "lunch box" and a ghost warrior robot.

A closer look at that robot. Flamer and something that look like a power fist and a chain fist.
