Command section 1st Tactical Platoon B company

With the completion of this command section I call the 1st Tactical Platoon of Bravo Company ready for deployment.

Las cannon trooper, platoon sergeant, orderly, lieutenant, medic and another las cannon trooper.
The banner is to be replaced later with a nicer design but the colors and shape will remain the same.

Being the most senior NCO in the platoon and it´s most experienced soldier the sergeant wears
a older model boots and flak armor. He has also a goatie that wouldn´t be tolarated on ordinary
guardsmen or junior NCOs.

So here they are - all 26 strong. Ready to serve the Emperor. I think I need to
write a background story for the regiment this Company belongs to...

As I´m waiting for backpacks and chainswords for the assault platoon to arrive I think I´ll work on the 2nd tactical platoon meanwhile. But I do have some green skins that need attention not to mention the space elves. Let´s see what happens next.

2nd Tactical Squad

With the completion of 2nd tactical squad I have the rank and file done for the 1st (Blue) platoon of Bravo Company. Command section is roughly half way finished and should be ready some time next weeks. Really looking forward to having a full platoon then.

Veterans of the 2nd squad. All metal models except for plastic arms and weapons. Painted in the same way as the first squad was: base coat spray, main colors, dark wash and simple highlights.

The grenade launcher and sergeant models are not that common. For that reason my upcoming assault squads will use normal trooper bodies for sergeants too. And if I start a second tactical platoon the grenade launchers will be replaced with heavy bolters and las cannons with multimeltas.

Both squads together. Now let´s finish that command section.

Sneak peek: IG command group

As the second tactical squad presented in my previous posting nears completion I´ve started working on a command group too. With it I will have a two squad platoon in my hands.

At the moment two models out of six are completed - platoon leader and a heavy weapon. Banner will need finishing touches and basing. And a flag of course. Platoon sergeant and medic are just primed and the second heavy weapons is still in bits and pieces.

Hoping to get that squad done during next weekend and these sometime next week. And I have a prototype assault squad trooper waiting too.

2nd Tactical squad WIP

This is the 2nd tactical squad for the 1st (Blue) platoon in WIP stage. These guardsmen are experienced troopers which is shown by the more ununiformed looks of the squad. Where newly raised units usually have standard clothing and armor the veterans on the other hand typically convert their gear to suit their preferences.

Hated pieces of equipment may be ´accidentally´ lost in combat and not replaced. And awkward gear may be modified or altogether replaced. This is of course strictly forbidden by the IG rules but most officers and NCO overlook this. The fighting value of experienced squads is seem as more important than the rigid following of the dress code.

One of the most commonly modified pieces of equipment is the flak vest. Regarded as heavy and hot in desert environment the guardsmen quite often cut it´s back plate to reduce weight and to allow better ventilation and freedom of upper body movement. This modification has been morbidly named ` The Commissar Cut´ by the grunts.

This trooper has removed a part of his flak armor because of his chest wound. His shoulder pad shows some battle damage so we can assume that he has been hit but saved by his armor.

Perhaps the most commonly ´lost´ piece of equipment is the gaiters. As the standard boots themselves are quite warm, the gaiters make the situation even worse in the desert.

1st Tactical squad completed

Here´s the first desert world themed RT era Imperial Guard tactical squad for what hopefully will eventually be a playable IG force. Speed painted at least on my standards as they took about 45 min per model excluding drying time.

This is a standard squad with sergeant, las cannon, grenadier and seven normal troopers. Three metals and seven plastic models. I´m planning on starting a veteran squad that will be made mostly of Olley matel sculpts with a bit more variety in equipment.

BTW, looking for more grenadier and sergent models...
