Things that got painted this month

It´s the month of gnovember but I´ve placed my gnome models in such a secure location that I was unable to lovate them. Well - they´ll turn up eventually. I know I have ten crossbow armed gnomes somewhere. So here are the models I´ve completed this month.

Four chaos hounds that I tried to paint in the old pastel Slaanesh style.
Need two more for sacred number.
A goblin shaman. This one stood half finished for a very long time.

Elf captain. Just because I haden´t painted anything elvish in a while.

I´m not saying that I´m back

But for the first time in ages I did find motivation to pick up my brushes and slap some paint on a few goblins. And it actually felt quite good to be painting again. Let´s see what happens.

These will join my goblin horde that numbers around 60 gobbos at the moment. Perhaps I should dig them all out for a head count and a group photo.

My hobby year 2019

Looking back to 2019 I seen Imperial Guard. A suprisingly large force of Imperial Guard. Even as I´ve never been a 40K guy I ended up painting more than 100 IG models.

This is how it all begun. Inspired by a desert themed Only war campaing I was playing with my mates I wanted to try how old plastic guardsmen would look like in desert uniforms.

I was pleased with the speed painting method and soon had my first tactical squad completed.

Then I sort of got carried away by IG and after completing 1st tactical platoon I knew I had to do more.

The next squad finished was these bald gentelemen of the penal battallion. Monopose with plastic arms and las guns. Not much variety there.

And as those penitents have explosive collars I needed someone to rig those. Here´s an adeptus mechanicus with his three servitors. The servitors are Confrontation tech gangers with some modernish Tau parts.
Another model that needs that adeptus mechanicus is this human bomb aka redeemed sinner. Not very politically correct model that one.
For 2nd tactical platoon I wanted some variation for heavy weapons and chose heavy bolters and multi meltas instead of normal grenade launchers and las cannons.

2nd platoon with it´s two squads and the command section.

Some support weapons were painted too:

 A tarantula
 Land speeder
Conqueror robot with it´s squat adeptus mechanicus care taker.
A walking egg

Back to infantry:
Here´s something I´m pretty proud of. A jump pack equipped assault platoon. Well, it´s just a single squad and a command section but still counts as a platoon.

 A trio of officers.
 A commissar
 Sanctioned psyker and a servitor
 A commissar and a penitent
Commissar on a motor cycle

No old school IG force would be complete without some abhumans:
 Ratling snipers

Ogryn squad

The few fantasy models painted last year were mostly green skins:
Snots, goblins, orc

 Some Rugluds´ chaps

 Goblin chariot

Chaos goblin. My Oldhammer forum Legacy 2019 participant.

A nurglesque chaos warrior

I made a few piece of scenery too. That´s something that I haven´t done in years.

I had tha chance to play only a single game of 3rd WFB during 2019. Enjoyed it even though my green skins were soundly beaten by dwarfs.

 Orcs and goblins advance

Bolt throwers try to provide some support

 Dwarfs in strong position

Gobbos take on hammerers - and eventually lose

These guys were the ones to start 2019. By that time my blog had 50000 hits.
Proto guardian, champion, heavy weapon

When this space elf ended the year there were circa 68000 hits. For a mediocre painter and blogger 18000 hits / year is pretty good imo.

So all together circa 130 models painted, five pieces of scenery done and a single game of WFB played. Not a bad year.

2nd Goblin Chariot

This one is a bit of a medley. I got most of the parts used here in a job lot I bought, some parts came from my bits box and other from eBay.

The whip toting driver is from the MD1 Goblin King´s Chariot set. The archer one is a goblin wolf rider whom I got without a mount.

Chariot itself is MD6 Goblin Battle Chariot with spear chariot sides. I got it without wheels and used some plastic ones (from 90´s Tiranoc chariot I think) as replacement. Some drilling and glueing was required to fit those scythes. The wolves are from that MD6 set too.

Here´s my other goblin chariot. More pics in this posting.

50 000 views!

Feeling happy as the looney below - Vanhaa Vasarointia blog vent past the 50 000 views  yesterday. I know it´s not much compared to some of the BIG names in Oldhammer scene like Orlygg, Thantsants, Goblin Lee, Willmark and Blue in VT just to mention a few of my favorites. In any case I´m pretty proud of myself for being able to get those views. And a growing group of followers. For a non-native-english speaker/writer with very mediocre painting skills it means a lot.

The fanatic above is the 2nd model I painted this year. The first one was an eldar who will appear here later when I get a couple of his mates done. This green skin goes By the name of Zoglod Ballrider and comes from C12 Goblins & Fanatics series. The sculpts is By Kev Adams and is among the best fanatic models around in my opinion.

One for the gob mob and one for the baggage train

That fast food selling goblin made me dig through one of the many boxes that hold my unpainted miniatures as I remembered having something that would fit the green skin baggage train. And actually found two of the shackles carrying guys. They are from the C27 Slave ogre & Half-orc handlers set. But I see them as half orc slaves doing those jobs too dirty for their pure blooded cousins.

The other model in the pictures is a C12 goblin. Just wanted to show that back in those days goblins came in many shapes and sizes. I mean he is one Big gobbo as he stands almost as tall as the half orc.

Looked for light green skin, dark hair and human eyes with that half orc. Clothes are pretty plain and dirty. The shackles he is carrying are brown-red with rust.I have another one of these models and might give him a more human skin but red goblinoid eyes.

The goblin wears studded leather armor on a mail shirt. I was not sure what that thing on his sword arm is but I imagined being a arm band of some sort.

Next in line are some elf war hounds, an orc villager or two and perhaps high elf kith. Stay tuned!

Squig´n chips

2nd model of my very slowly growing orcs & golins baggage train is this goblin fast food merchant. Not exactly an oldhammer model by it´s age but has the right feel in it, doesn´t it?

Holding one of his mechadise in his hand this goblin is carrying a lot of bag. Apparently filled with more commercial goods.

You can see a couple of snouts sticking out from that bag under his left arm. Poor little buggers.

Can´t really tell what the creatures on sale are - some sort of squigs perhaps. But as Traject0ry pointed out they sure do look a lot like the shingouz from Valerian and Laureline.
