But for the first time in ages I did find motivation to pick up my brushes and slap some paint on a few goblins. And it actually felt quite good to be painting again. Let´s see what happens.
These will join my goblin horde that numbers around 60 gobbos at the moment. Perhaps I should dig them all out for a head count and a group photo.maanantai 3. marraskuuta 2025

New unit of Boyz
Here´s another project that was started a few years back and only finished today. Twenty one classic Ruglud´s armored orcs. I remembered having 12 of these painted when I took the bull by the horns and decided now it´s time to complete a unit of 20. When finished I set everyone up for some photos and it turned out that I ended up with 21 tin clad commandos. But that was a happy suprise. They look good in three ranks of seven orcs each.

Closing the year 2023 with a bang
Or actually multiple bangs as the last thing finished for this year is a lead belcher organ gun. With all sorts of things going on there has been not that much time available for hobby activities. Yet I´m happy to have painted at least something. This is one of those models that has sat for months unfinished on my painting station so getting it done was quite satisfying.

Arrer boyz with cross bows
Had to scroll down all the way to orctober 2020 to find my previous green skin posting. But as it happened I got my hands on a non opened blister of cross bow armed arrer boyz and with the few models I´ve had for years I was in a situation where I can scrape together a unit of 11 boyz inc. champion and a banner. The boyz in the blister were cross bow using orcs but there was no xbows... we´ll get into that later.

My hobby year 2019
This is how it all begun. Inspired by a desert themed Only war campaing I was playing with my mates I wanted to try how old plastic guardsmen would look like in desert uniforms.
I was pleased with the speed painting method and soon had my first tactical squad completed.
Then I sort of got carried away by IG and after completing 1st tactical platoon I knew I had to do more.
The next squad finished was these bald gentelemen of the penal battallion. Monopose with plastic arms and las guns. Not much variety there.
And as those penitents have explosive collars I needed someone to rig those. Here´s an adeptus mechanicus with his three servitors. The servitors are Confrontation tech gangers with some modernish Tau parts.
Another model that needs that adeptus mechanicus is this human bomb aka redeemed sinner. Not very politically correct model that one.
For 2nd tactical platoon I wanted some variation for heavy weapons and chose heavy bolters and multi meltas instead of normal grenade launchers and las cannons.
Some support weapons were painted too:
So all together circa 130 models painted, five pieces of scenery done and a single game of WFB played. Not a bad year.

2nd Goblin Chariot
The whip toting driver is from the MD1 Goblin King´s Chariot set. The archer one is a goblin wolf rider whom I got without a mount.
Chariot itself is MD6 Goblin Battle Chariot with spear chariot sides. I got it without wheels and used some plastic ones (from 90´s Tiranoc chariot I think) as replacement. Some drilling and glueing was required to fit those scythes. The wolves are from that MD6 set too.
Here´s my other goblin chariot. More pics in this posting.

Some fantasy for change
I did aquire a couple of bottles of those new cotrast paints at the beginning of july and geve them a try with some orcs. I had painted some Rugluds´ before and just wanted to try and find a speed painting method for them.
The nine models I´ve completed so far. I tried using the contrast paints for skin and leather parts at first but that really didn´t works out too well. I didn´t like the skin tone that Ork Flesh produced. And the white base coating meant that I had to repaint the armor bits black after base coating. That took time and worked agains my speed painting idea.
So after a couple of models I went back to black base coating. Metal parts are Typhus Corrosion drybrushed with Ryza Rust and Leadbelcher. Skin is Warboss Green highlighted with Skarsnik Green. Mournfang brown washed with Agrax for spear shafts and different browns for leather parts.
I tried to achieve the original idea of the equipment being looted from some ancient tomb and being in corroded shape. I´m happy with the over all result and these will be good enough for me to be played with.
Here´s a pair of wolves that I painted using those contrast paints. It´s Snakebite Leather on white base highlighted with Ushabti bone. Works well enough for me.
